Happy Birthday, Friend!

It was Yasikha's birthday yesterday, and it somehow felt like it was my birthday as well. Because I was as happy as she was. I enjoyed the day as much as she did. It was simple but it was meaningful. I have known this girl since 2008. We first flew together to KUL and I was her R4 galley operator on B777 aircraft. It was almost an instant click and we continued keeping in touch, and what turned out to be a beautiful friendship of 9 years that we have now. I thank Allah for blessing me with such a beautiful friend, both inside and out. I don't have to go through all these friendship quotes to proof our love of friendship but when you know you have a friend, you just know. I am now 32 years old and boy, have I gone through various types of friendships, nice ones, fun ones, odd ones, sad ones, i-can't-believe-we-are-no-longer-friends ones, and the list goes on. I remembered when I was younger, I need to have many friends. I want to have many friends. The number of f...

Happy 1st Birthday, Aishah!

2 days ago, I was invited to a surprise birthday celebration. Surprise for both me and the birthday girl. I have become close to a friend who was pregnant 2 years ago, when she was working in the office in the academy. We somehow clicked. And fast forward to today, she has an adorable baby girl named Aishah, who just turned 1 year old on 27th July 2017. Time surely flies because I can still clearly remember when this friend of mine was 6 months pregnant. We have fixed to meet up earlier this month, but she postponed it because she wanted to throw a celebration for her baby girl, and I kind of awkwardly got invited (because I thought it was just a random meet up). I somehow knew it was Aishah's birthday. Like the date 27 July kind of mean something but I just didn't know what yet until that evening at the restaurant. The 2 hours that we were together (husband, wife, baby and me), both husband and wife were so busy attending to the baby. This little cute human being r...

Serious Shit

I have something so serious to share. That I must, share. It is so serious that I kept thinking about blogging this. So I have been using this pink one, Scottex, for like the longest time ever. The texture of the paper. The softness. The roughness. The size of each square. And the thickness of each ply. Just makes my below feels... so good! This is seriously not TMI. I am only describing the paper, dude.  And each time that I am almost running out, I will buy like 2 or 3 packets of 10s, so that I have stock at home. If not, it will be a really sh***y situation. Lol, unintentional pun.  Anyhoo, I have this luck with things where what ever I like, tend to be discontinued at some point or other. There was one time like I was so running out of toilet rolls, and I couldn't find them, and Boo also helped me looked for it in other supermarkets and below is an example of the conversation we had. Him: Boo, your brand is Scottex right? Me: Yes, boo. The one with puppy...

To Tip Or Not To Tip

This is always a dilemma. When I first got to UAE, it was a norm to see most of my friends/colleagues tip the workers here. Be it to the waiter or waitress or bell boys or supermarket packers etc., it was like a mandatory thing to do. Back home in Malaysia, tipping is almost hardly noticeable. Even sometimes when I want to leave tips, I will have at least one family member or one friend who will say, "Why leave tips? They have already charge us service tax." Well, I guess they do have a point there. I don't know. Any of you have this dilemma? Ok, maybe it is not really a dilemma, more like a tricky situation. Like, sometimes I want to give just because of the unexpected good service. Sometimes I want to give, because the change is really minute. I mean honestly, if the change was "RM 0.60." Sixty freaking cents and that also you want to kira. In my opinion, quite absurd lah. But there are times where I feel like, why should I give. For example, the pack...

Bangkok Transit Before Hong Kong

The other day, I followed Boo to Hong Kong, but because the flight from AUH-HKG was full, I had to use another route. So, I left in the morning from AUH-BKK with EY, with ID 90 J class ticket. The flight was very light. And I got into BKK around evening 6pm. Then I went up to TG counter to check if I need to list myself for HKG flight tomorrow morning. But I think we were lost in translation, she didn't really understand what I said and I didn't really understand what she said. It was hilarious actually. Me: Hi, I am on staff ticket and I will be on TG to HKG tomorrow. Do I need to list myself before the flight? Her: Hong Kong?? No Hong Kong flight now. Me: Lol, ya, I know. I mean for tomorrow. Her: (insert Thai accent) Ohhhh, tomolo? Then you check-in tomolo. Me: Ok, but do I need to list myself? Or am I already in the system? Her: You come to check-in counter tomato. Me: So I don't need to list myself? I am already listed? Her: (turning to her colleague) Lis...

No Alcohol - Phuket Edition

I have kept the post title empty as I am typing now. Normally, I will have a topic in mind. Actually, I had a few topics in mind the past few days. And I usually jot them down  type them in my phone. But now, I am scrolling my phone, and it's amazing how I don't understand some of the "key words" I put in there. Like, there's one that says "itchy palms." I am trying to decipher this "itchy palm". It could mean any of the followings: 1. Money is coming in (this is such an Asian belief) 2. I didn't wash my hands properly that day 3. Was I bitten by mosquitoes? 4. Should I go see a palm reader and for him to tell me my future? 5. ... No idea, man. So I will keep that in the note and go for the next one. We just got back from a 2 weeks leave. We first went to Phuket. And it was amazing. We were there for 4 days and we learnt a little something more about Thailand. It was Wesak day on the 10th of May and all the pubs and bars and eve...

We Were On A Break!

A brand new day. A brand new month. . . . . . . . What nonsense am I talking about? I just feel like writing. I actually do not know what I want to write about, but I just feel like writing. Or to be even more specific, I feel like typing. I miss hearing all these click tap tap click click sound the keyboard makes. So, we are going to be going on leave soon. Yay!! The last we were on a break was in March. Break as in leave, not break as in Ross and Rachel, "We were on a break!" Anyhoo, ya, this time it will be almost 2 weeks, and we are going to Phuket! The last we were there was like last year. Lol. Ya, we were there 4 times last year. It is so funny sometimes. Because whenever we are going on leave, we always come up with ideas where to go, what to do, what to eat, where to eat, how many days to go. I mean, duh, that is why there is a term called "holiday planning" right? And that is how tour companies make money no? Because sometimes just planning a ...

Lazy or Tired?

Hello! It has been ages! I have wanted to update this blog for some time and every time I have a topic, I am always outside. So I told myself, put the topic in your phone first and then blog about it when you get home. Ha, Ha, Ha, when I get home, I always get too lazy/tired. Nowadays, I get tired and annoyed pretty fast. Like, back in the days when I go shopping, I can like literally do the entire mall, and only sit down when I need to wee wee. But now, oh now, it's like after 2 shops, "Boo, let's go for coffee or something?" Or even worse, after lunch, walked out of that restaurant, "Boo, let's go for coffee or something?" I don't even know why I am tired. No, I am not pregnant. If I were preggy, every one would know. The power of social media. Sometimes I wonder if people try to look at my photos and wonder if I am (lol, because I do that too). I think sometimes it's not just because I am tired, but also because I have nothing muc...

Parking Luck

When you need to go somewhere, do you normally drive or do you call a cab/Uber? Like in Abu Dhabi, since we have 2 cars, it is just easier (and more convenient) to drive. But back in Malaysia, we prefer taking Uber nowadays. Maybe it is because of the crazy traffic jams and difficulties in getting car park space. Taking (photo of) cab in Hong Kong. But anyway, here I want to talk about Parking Luck. The person with one of the worst parking luck is my husband. This goes way way back, maybe even back to the times when he started driving. When we started dating, he pointed it out to me and I was like, that's just coincidence. But as the time goes along, he really is kinda kesian in the car parks. See, whenever we are parked and say we need to take time to like gather up our stuffs before heading to the mall/hotel/meeting/bank (or if we have just bought lots of stuff and are taking our time to arrange it in the car), there WILL always be someone who will come and park next to...

(Shoe) karma is a bitch!

I was at 1 Utama jalan-jalan cari pasal the other day with Boo. You know usually when we are back in Malaysia, we hardly get any leisure time. It is always about running errands or meeting family and friends. By leisure time, I meant, like sipping coconut juice under the coconut tree eating the coconut fried rice (eeeeks, does that even exist?) and doing the coconut dance. Ok, basically i meant me-time, doing nothing kinda me-time. So yeah, that was the one day, that we were actually not running any errands. I was back in KL for only 50hours. Followed Boo on his layover. It was good to be back to rainy Malaysia. I missed the smell of rain. Anyhoo, so we got to the mall about 11ish, had brunch at this Nyonya gerai that is opposite McD and then we went to Maybank for Boo to run his errand. So oops, it was an errand day. I forgot. But it was an easy errand day because all we had to do was meet his customer relationship manager and she does the rest. So after that was done and dusted...

Hello? Eileen? Where are you??

Hello hello! I know, it has been so long since I posted anything here. I have been seriously, ridiculously, absolutely, tremendously, busy. I sometimes wonder what am I busy with. Days just pass so quickly. Omg, I can't believe I forgot my blog's URL. I just clicked open another tab on my Safari, and I was like, *long cricket sound*, what's my blog's URL again? Lol. I am seriously so funny sometimes. (You there, reading this post, laugh now, if not I smack your head arh!) Yeah, finally got it open, it is eileenlilo.blogspot.com. Duh!! I wanted to open it to see when was the last time I blogged about something. And it was almost a month ago. So anyway, cutting to the chase, I wanna tell you that I have my own YouTube channel!! Yayyyyyy!! So many ideas I have now in my head and I can't stop! It so reminds me of my blogging days. I mean my university time blogging days. I used to post like almost every single day then. It's either I was sad and lonely, or I ...

Supermarket Shopping

I was at the supermarket yesterday with Boo, doing the usual grocery shopping after a hearty good breakfast. We used the Entertainer coupon for this breakfast at #thecoffeeclubme . It was pretty worth it. The Big Breakfast The Big Breakfast costs AED 59. And with buy 1 get 1 free, technically it is 2 breakfasts for the price of AED 59. I said it was pretty worth it because the portion is huge but the scrambled eggs was so-so. I like my scrambled eggs slightly more fluffy (this one was completely dry). It was pretty worth it because the hash brown was crunchy and seasoned well, but the beef bacon was not. It was pretty worth it because the cumberland sausages were just the right texture, but the ciabatta toast was bluergh . It was pretty worth it because the button mushrooms were yum yum, but the tomatoes, well the tomatoes were ok too. You can actually get something like this in IKEA too, and for a fraction of the price. But it's ok, it's all about the ambience, a...

Today, do what arh?

I was so excited to start blogging again and then I became complacent. It is not easy to find contents! I actually had a lot of ideas in my head, like today I will talk about shopping in UAE, tomorrow I will talk about how my bunnies only like to eat sweet stuffs, and next day I will blog about some other random stuffs. But I guess laziness took over. So yes, now I will write again. I actually have no idea what I am going to talk about today. Let's see. Maybe I will tell you what I have planned for today. So I woke up around 8am+, sat up on my bed and then jumped, like the cheerleader kinda jump, with open hand stance and greeted myself "Goooooood Morning!" It sounds weird but whenever I do that, the day just feels better. Try it! I just had my breakfast now, of oats and warmed milk. I was craving for that last night after my chicken curry dinner. Weird cos I am not really an oat person. I have it only on days when I feel like #eatclean #eathealthy #stayfit #...
