2 days ago, I was invited to a surprise birthday celebration. Surprise for both me and the birthday girl.
I have become close to a friend who was pregnant 2 years ago, when she was working in the office in the academy. We somehow clicked. And fast forward to today, she has an adorable baby girl named Aishah, who just turned 1 year old on 27th July 2017.
Time surely flies because I can still clearly remember when this friend of mine was 6 months pregnant.
We have fixed to meet up earlier this month, but she postponed it because she wanted to throw a celebration for her baby girl, and I kind of awkwardly got invited (because I thought it was just a random meet up). I somehow knew it was Aishah's birthday. Like the date 27 July kind of mean something but I just didn't know what yet until that evening at the restaurant.
The 2 hours that we were together (husband, wife, baby and me), both husband and wife were so busy attending to the baby. This little cute human being really takes up a lot of your energy, attention and patience. They had to take turn to hold her because she simply refused to sit down in the baby chair. I wish I could help but her baby did not want me.
I was informed by my sister that babies start to recognise people from 9-month-old and from then they are very selective of people. My friend consoled me by saying that it took her mother-in-law one week for baby Aishah to sort of want her. So I guess I just need to see more of this little girl for her to be acquainted to me.
And to also console myself, at least she did not resist me when I played with her hands or feet. So, that's a progress. Slow and steady, wins the race! Haha.
From observing how my friend and her husband that day, I thanked my parents this morning for their love and kindness and patience in handling all 3 of us siblings when we were younger. It takes up so much effort, and PATIENCE! Because of so much love for this little one, you are willing to do anything at all, but sometimes it can really eat you up, but when you see that cute little face, you are just ready to give the world to see them smile.
Bless you, baby Aishah, for having such great parents. May you grow up to be a responsible and kind human being. Kisses from aunty Eileen 😘😘
