Happy Birthday, Friend!

It was Yasikha's birthday yesterday, and it somehow felt like it was my birthday as well. Because I was as happy as she was. I enjoyed the day as much as she did. It was simple but it was meaningful. I have known this girl since 2008. We first flew together to KUL and I was her R4 galley operator on B777 aircraft. It was almost an instant click and we continued keeping in touch, and what turned out to be a beautiful friendship of 9 years that we have now. I thank Allah for blessing me with such a beautiful friend, both inside and out. I don't have to go through all these friendship quotes to proof our love of friendship but when you know you have a friend, you just know. I am now 32 years old and boy, have I gone through various types of friendships, nice ones, fun ones, odd ones, sad ones, i-can't-believe-we-are-no-longer-friends ones, and the list goes on. I remembered when I was younger, I need to have many friends. I want to have many friends. The number of f...

Happy 1st Birthday, Aishah!

2 days ago, I was invited to a surprise birthday celebration. Surprise for both me and the birthday girl. I have become close to a friend who was pregnant 2 years ago, when she was working in the office in the academy. We somehow clicked. And fast forward to today, she has an adorable baby girl named Aishah, who just turned 1 year old on 27th July 2017. Time surely flies because I can still clearly remember when this friend of mine was 6 months pregnant. We have fixed to meet up earlier this month, but she postponed it because she wanted to throw a celebration for her baby girl, and I kind of awkwardly got invited (because I thought it was just a random meet up). I somehow knew it was Aishah's birthday. Like the date 27 July kind of mean something but I just didn't know what yet until that evening at the restaurant. The 2 hours that we were together (husband, wife, baby and me), both husband and wife were so busy attending to the baby. This little cute human being r...

Serious Shit

I have something so serious to share. That I must, share. It is so serious that I kept thinking about blogging this. So I have been using this pink one, Scottex, for like the longest time ever. The texture of the paper. The softness. The roughness. The size of each square. And the thickness of each ply. Just makes my below feels... so good! This is seriously not TMI. I am only describing the paper, dude.  And each time that I am almost running out, I will buy like 2 or 3 packets of 10s, so that I have stock at home. If not, it will be a really sh***y situation. Lol, unintentional pun.  Anyhoo, I have this luck with things where what ever I like, tend to be discontinued at some point or other. There was one time like I was so running out of toilet rolls, and I couldn't find them, and Boo also helped me looked for it in other supermarkets and below is an example of the conversation we had. Him: Boo, your brand is Scottex right? Me: Yes, boo. The one with puppy...

To Tip Or Not To Tip

This is always a dilemma. When I first got to UAE, it was a norm to see most of my friends/colleagues tip the workers here. Be it to the waiter or waitress or bell boys or supermarket packers etc., it was like a mandatory thing to do. Back home in Malaysia, tipping is almost hardly noticeable. Even sometimes when I want to leave tips, I will have at least one family member or one friend who will say, "Why leave tips? They have already charge us service tax." Well, I guess they do have a point there. I don't know. Any of you have this dilemma? Ok, maybe it is not really a dilemma, more like a tricky situation. Like, sometimes I want to give just because of the unexpected good service. Sometimes I want to give, because the change is really minute. I mean honestly, if the change was "RM 0.60." Sixty freaking cents and that also you want to kira. In my opinion, quite absurd lah. But there are times where I feel like, why should I give. For example, the pack...

Bangkok Transit Before Hong Kong

The other day, I followed Boo to Hong Kong, but because the flight from AUH-HKG was full, I had to use another route. So, I left in the morning from AUH-BKK with EY, with ID 90 J class ticket. The flight was very light. And I got into BKK around evening 6pm. Then I went up to TG counter to check if I need to list myself for HKG flight tomorrow morning. But I think we were lost in translation, she didn't really understand what I said and I didn't really understand what she said. It was hilarious actually. Me: Hi, I am on staff ticket and I will be on TG to HKG tomorrow. Do I need to list myself before the flight? Her: Hong Kong?? No Hong Kong flight now. Me: Lol, ya, I know. I mean for tomorrow. Her: (insert Thai accent) Ohhhh, tomolo? Then you check-in tomolo. Me: Ok, but do I need to list myself? Or am I already in the system? Her: You come to check-in counter tomato. Me: So I don't need to list myself? I am already listed? Her: (turning to her colleague) Lis...

No Alcohol - Phuket Edition

I have kept the post title empty as I am typing now. Normally, I will have a topic in mind. Actually, I had a few topics in mind the past few days. And I usually jot them down  type them in my phone. But now, I am scrolling my phone, and it's amazing how I don't understand some of the "key words" I put in there. Like, there's one that says "itchy palms." I am trying to decipher this "itchy palm". It could mean any of the followings: 1. Money is coming in (this is such an Asian belief) 2. I didn't wash my hands properly that day 3. Was I bitten by mosquitoes? 4. Should I go see a palm reader and for him to tell me my future? 5. ... No idea, man. So I will keep that in the note and go for the next one. We just got back from a 2 weeks leave. We first went to Phuket. And it was amazing. We were there for 4 days and we learnt a little something more about Thailand. It was Wesak day on the 10th of May and all the pubs and bars and eve...

We Were On A Break!

A brand new day. A brand new month. . . . . . . . What nonsense am I talking about? I just feel like writing. I actually do not know what I want to write about, but I just feel like writing. Or to be even more specific, I feel like typing. I miss hearing all these click tap tap click click sound the keyboard makes. So, we are going to be going on leave soon. Yay!! The last we were on a break was in March. Break as in leave, not break as in Ross and Rachel, "We were on a break!" Anyhoo, ya, this time it will be almost 2 weeks, and we are going to Phuket! The last we were there was like last year. Lol. Ya, we were there 4 times last year. It is so funny sometimes. Because whenever we are going on leave, we always come up with ideas where to go, what to do, what to eat, where to eat, how many days to go. I mean, duh, that is why there is a term called "holiday planning" right? And that is how tour companies make money no? Because sometimes just planning a ...
